Suitable CompilersIf you don't have a C compiler already then there are a number of free compilers available. Most are suitable but this is the one we suggest for C.
About Learning a Technical SubjectFrom my own experience, I've found that you need to study regularly and practice what you've learnt. Two to three sessions a week is enough to keep what you've learnt fresh in your mind. There is no better way to learn than by doing and you'll get a great deal of satisfaction, not to mention practical experience. Don't be afraid to experiment.
