Definition of GPL

Definition: GPL is short for General Public Licence and is a type of licence published by the GNU Project.

It was written by Richard Stallman to give these rights: to run the program, for any desired purpose, to study how the program works, and modify it, to redistribute copies and to improve the program, and release the improvements to the public.
