"Wait you say". Aren't Xamarin the people who do Mono (C# for Linux and Mac), MonoDevelop the free IDE for Mono and Monotouch for iOS? MonoTouch for iOS is a commercial product as is MonoDroid for Android, but it's just been superseded by Xamarin Studio which now includes a free starter version.
Xamarin Studio installs over the web and is a 2GB install (the download is just less than half that). This is size limited, if you want the unrestricted version it costs $299 a year for Indie developer and more for Business/Enterprize. I'm working on a full review.
Having a free version lets people try it out and see if they like it. Previously the $299 is a big leap in the dark, a lot of money for an Indie developer. I understand most use on MonoTouch was for business but as its supposed to have access to all iOS APIs, I'd like to see how it does with games.
