TIOBE Lauds C and C++ as The Languages of 2008
Wednesday December 31, 2008
The Tiobe index (based on the number of skilled engineers world-wide, courses and third party vendors, all determined from the web) looks at various search engines and determines programming languages popularity each month as it has since 2001. The top three are Java, C and C++ (at 19.367%, 16.163%, 10.893%) but interestingly, both C and C++ have grown 3% in popularity over the last year while Java has dropped about 0.5%.
It's interesting to speculate what things will be like in 12 months as the same popularity growth figures would put C ahead of Java. Happy New Year!
