Programming Challenge 17 Properly Marked

Thursday November 13, 2008
Congratulations to Aliaksei Sanko of Belarus who came first with his C++ entry that took 0.0654754 seconds, beating Joshua Warner of the USA by under 4 thousands of a second. Having changed the Linker reserve space to 1MB, all entries ran successfully and the output files were fine as well. I think I got zero blindness last night- it's very easy to miss a few 1s in a sea of nearly a million zeros! I've added links to the source code files for all entries.

The slowest entry was in C# but as usual it's the strength of the algorithm that matters. The winner's entry was in C++ and just beat one in C. All entries were compiled for release and run from the command line. Thanks to those entrants whose code was so fast that they had to run it in a loop and divide the total time by the number of loops.
