iPhone Development Continued
I have been getting upto speed (a) on using the Mac and (b) on Learning Xcode the Mac IDE. Xcode is quite complex at first glance and the number of config items is just overwhelming- my golden rule: stick to the default settings. Thankfully, creating a new project and building/running one of the demos was pretty straightforward.
But so far I have been restricted to running compiled apps on the iPhone simulator (pictured). The reason: it looks like the recent upgrades to the iPhones Operating System have made the infamous 0xE8000001 error spring up everywhere. A search on Google finds nearly 9,000 results. This bug prevents installations on the device; it has affected not just iPhones but iPods etc as well. It appears to be a config error to do with code signing. This is a process that restricts code you write to running on just your device unless you pay Apple $99. But the OS update has made it go wrong on some devices. No doubt it will get fixed; it's barely two months since the iPhone was launched but still frustrating when it happens to you. I call this being on the "Bleeding Edge" of technology! If you know the fix, please email me at the usual email address!

I found your blog two days ago. It’s really interesting following you in your journey to become a iPhone Apps programmer. I’ve downloaded all the guides also and try to learn by myself, but I have no idea what C or Objective-C looks like. I came from mainframe, COBOL, CICS you know this kind of stone-age languages. Please continue post all your thoughts about iPhone. I have already add your blog in my RSS. Thanks Marcos
