I am now a registered iPhone Developer

But I promise not to be too boring on the subject! I now own a Linux box, a Windows box and now a very dinky (cute and small) Mac Mini. As a first time Mac user I found the whole getting started experience very painless though I was forced to RTFM the leaflet to figure out how the blue tooth wireless keyboard connected (press the on button! D'oh...) and typing in the magic word Xcode into help took me to the Apple site and a 1.25 GB download for the free iPhone SDK after I registered. If (I mean when) I develop an iPhone application I'll have to pay a one off $99 fee to get it listed in the App Store (and then any applications I write can be sold or given away free). All the development software is free.

Call me cynical but the Apple Mac OS feels just like a fancier Linux gui. Nothing wrong with that but somehow I think my expectations were of something out of this world. That makes me believe that desktop Linux with a bit of rebranding and tarting up could expand its market share.

So now I start climbing up yet another learning curve to learn Objective-C 2.0. Interesting times ahead! I will of course add Objective-C to the tutorials but at the moment there is still an NDA (Non Disclosure Agreement) preventing disclosure of iPhone programming details.

Hi and thanks for an interesting blog!
Did I really understand you right now? Are you not allowed to teach anyone how to program for the iPhone?

I run a career school here and I have 2 programmers ( oldies) interested in learning to develop iphone apps. I have all Microsoft machines and no Apple. Do you have a lead on apple minis at a low price or donated to the school? I appreciate it.
