Computer Assistance For Games

Screenshot of Role Play Dungeon Map A few years back I used to design and play Role Playing Games like Dungeons and Dragons. As a designer, I had to draw my own dungeons and populate them with monsters and treasure.

Now it's possible to do much of the map and dungeon designing with software. The screenshot shows an example. The program used was written in a mixture of C and C++ and the source code is freely available. I've added a link in the C and C++ code library.

This uses the excellent open source GD library for creating images. It's written in C and lets you create, PNG, JPG and GIF images for charts, graphics etc. You'll also find a link to that in the C code library.

See you next week.
